ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A Pulitzer Prize winning journalist is challenging local women on what they know about human trafficking.
Author Sheryl WuDunn made a special appearance at Rockford College this afternoon. Her book "Half the Sky" focuses on challenges facing women, such as lack of education, violence and sex trafficking. She says sex trafficking is becoming a much more common problem in the U.S because there is demand for it and other free labor.
"People are being kidnapped against their will and they're persuaded with the promise of jobs and turns out they end up working either in a brothel or in indentured labor."
WuDunn is the first Asian American reporter to win the Pulitzer Prize. She's currently a Senior Managing Director at Mid-Market Securities.
