ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- There are more than just the city’s plows when it comes to the manpower on the streets and after the biggest snowfall we've had this year the Stateline needed all the help it could get.
Plowing streets is just a side job for private contractors but when the city gets hit with as much snow as it did last night it becomes their main concern. The city says every time they call out private contractors to clear the side streets it costs them $150,000, but it's money they need to spend to keep our city safe.
"Everybody has different routes. We have quite a few employees out right now taking care of different locations and everything," Private Contractor Jeremy Montana, said.
The city says they had as many as 153 private contractors help clearing the roads last night and today.
