WASHINGTON D.C. (WIFR) -- For the first time since his re-election, President Obama will deliver his State of the Union Address and tonight he's expected to put the economy front and center. Currently, unemployment still hovers around 8% and drastic cuts in domestic programs and military spending could hurt our recovery if a deal isn't reached quickly. The President will also take on gun control, despite the fact that many Republicans remain opposed to laws that would ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines. Senator Marco Rubio will deliver the republican response and is expected to make the case for smaller government and less regulation.
You can watch the entire President’s address on WIFR. Coverage will start tonight at 8:00 when President Obama is expected to speak. CBS will offer insight and analysis until about 9:30. Then, you can join us for the 23 News Update at 10.
