UPDATE: Powerball numbers: 05, 16, 22, 23, 29 and Powerball 6.

STATELINE (WIFR) -- In just a few hours, someone could be $550 million richer. It's been Powerball mania, as several Stateliners are testing their luck, even at their job.

"That's a lot of money for one person."

Kim Berg bought almost $300 in Powerball tickets.

“It's exciting, the anticipation. We’re all excited about it and everyone's making plans what they would do with their share if we win," said Berg.

Rather than spend her hundreds of her money, Berg created a lottery pool at her job with more than 50 co-workers.

"We decided we were going to have everybody chip in $5 and come down and take our chance at 550 million,” Berg said.

For Berg more people mean more chances. Berg says she's kept a record, to make sure there's no funny business if someone in her pool wins.

"We've gotten signatures everybody involved and made sure that we got receipts for everything."

Financial advisors want people to be prepared for the rush if you score the winning ticket. Scott Laue of Savant Capital Management says it's best to lay low.
"You’re going to need some experts to help you on the legal side of things as well the accounting side."

Even if you become a big winner laue says you should wait to buy that new house.

"Go out and have that nice dinner and celebrate but put the really large expenses off for a little while. Don't go buy that vacation house right away," Laue said.

We also spoke with a lawyer who gave a few extra suggestions if you're in a lottery pool. He says to have a pool leader to keep records. He also says to make a copy of the tickets and be clear how the winnings will be split.

If you did win the money there are a few interesting ways you could spend it. For example, with the winnings you could give a penny to every single American every single day for 159 days or a penny to every single Illinoisan every day for 10 years and 234 days or a penny to every rockfordian every day for over 3,885 years.
