Investigators say the men were getting into a truck when some people in an SUV pulled up and started shooting.

It happened around 6p.m. on Arcadia Terrace near Elmwood Street. It’s in a neighborhood just west of Rockford Memorial Hospital.

Officers say one of the men died at the hospital, the other is in critical condition.

One neighbor says it's a safe neighborhood and says the men who were shot have always been very friendly.

At this point police don't have a reason for the shooting but are looking for two or three white men in a black Chevy Blazer.
