ROCKFORD (WIFR) – We're hoping to learn more this week about why a truck driver wasn't able to stop for another accident on a busy highway.
Officers say the semi crashed into a local mother's car killing her as she was braking for another crash.
The Rockford Police Department is still working on the case. Investigators say the driver of a semi slammed into 64 year old Jeanette Pivot's car early Saturday morning on U.S. 20, just west of the Kishwaukee Street overpass. Emergency crews were originally responding to another roll-over accident in the area. They believe that's what caused the victim to stop along with other cars.
Pivot's family and friends tell us the local mom was an upbeat, caring person who will be greatly missed.
