ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Police are still looking for the man who held a gun to a woman's head during a robbery early Monday morning on Rockford's east side.

Just after 2 a.m. police say a woman was walking back from the Mobil gas station on North Alpine to her friend's apartment in the 300 block of Dawn Avenue when the man followed her, pulled out a gun and demanded money.

She gave him cash and told him she had money at her friend's apartment. When she got to her friend's apartment, the friend let her in, shutting the door on the suspect. Police say the man then broke into the apartment through a window.

The victim and her friend ran out of the apartment and called police.

No one was hurt.

Police say the suspect is described as a 25-year-old black man, about 5'5" tall and 150 lbs. At the time he was said to be wearing a blue "puffy" vest and a white hoody.
