ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Rockford Police are investigating the second stabbing the Broadway area in less than a week. Police are still on the scene trying to figure out exactly what happened.

Police tell us they were called to the 1200 block of Broadway around 1:30 this afternoon for an armed robbery and stabbing. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Several business owners and customers of the computer shop say it’s a father and son who own the business and it was the son who was stabbed.

Another woman who works across the street says crime is always bad in this area and she’s worried about her safety.

"These things have been happening a lot lately and we just don't feel safe here. It's really scary because sometimes I have to close the store here all by myself and somebody can just come and stab me too,” said Karina Fernandez.

On Monday, a man was stabbed and severely beaten in what’s believed to be an attempted robbery at Happy Shop. That man is still in serious condition and the store is just a few blocks from where today’s events occurred. Detectives are investigating the possibility that Monday night's incident may be related to today's.

No one has been arrested for either stabbing. As far as today’s incident, police are looking for two black men, in their late 20's to early 30s. Suspect #1 was described as 5'7" tall and 150 lbs, while suspect #2 was described as being 6' tall and 180 lbs.

Anyone with information regarding either incident is encouraged to contact the Rockford Police at 815-987-5824 or CrimeStoppers at 815-963-78967.
