Police Investigate Rockford Shooting

ROCKFORD - Rockford police are investigating a shooting early Monday morning in the 3600 block of Schalck Drive.

Just after midnight, police responded to a call of gunshots at Riverside Boulevard and Rockton Avenue. Officers determined a shooting had taken place in the 3600 block of Schalck Drive. The victim had already been taken to the hospital before police arrived.

Police say the victim received a gunshot wound to the left hip and his status is unknown.

Near the scene, an apartment building in the 2200 block of Canary Drive was hit by gunfire, according to a press release.

A gold colored Pontiac Bonneville with dark tinted windows was reported at the scene and may have been where gun shots were fired from.
