ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- What's now being considered by the state as a medical emergency is believed to have taken the lives of two people in the Stateline over the weekend.
Rockford police say they are investigating two separate, fatal drug overdoses in the last 24 hours; one involves a 23–year-old, the other a 29-year-old. Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiddicua says she is waiting on toxicology results to determine what the two died from. Both were found dead in separate locations. In the past seven years, overdose related deaths, specifically heroin, have quadrupled in our area.
