ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A Rockford parolee is now in jail after allegedly burglarizing a home.
Police say on Thursday, May 8 they were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of North Gardiner Avenue for a burglary in process.
When officers arrived on scene, a man, later identified as 53-year-old Peter Papas, was seen running away from a residential garage while carrying a crow bar. After a short foot chase, Papas was arrested. Police say during their investigation they learned Papas also tried to get into a neighboring garage.
Police say the investigation is ongoing which is why no photos have been released.
Papas is charged with burglary, attempted burglary and two counts of criminal damage to property among other charges. Papas is currently on parole.
