ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Parents in District 205 make their voices heard about the transformations they'd like to see as part of the Rockford School District's 10 year facilities plan.
A forum on Saturday allowed members of the community to tell district leaders exactly what improvements they want to see in our elementary and high schools. Some of the suggestions included energy efficient buildings with more natural light, and classrooms where students can video conference with different experts on the job. Parents say, they can't expect results unless they get involved in their child's education.
“I'd like to see more involvement from the business and the governmental community, to have experts from those areas coming into the schools and talking to the students about their career aspirations and giving them and guiding them and providing more mentorship programs so they can be more successful in life," says Sterling Blackmon who has a niece enrolled in District 205.
The district and the team designing the school upgrades will take the input from today and use it to create a plan for future changes. That information will be presented a meeting later this spring.
