ROCKFORD (WIFR) ---- According to members of the Responsible Budget Coalition, the budget impasse is negatively impacting northern Illinois families and communities.
The group is a collection of more than 200 organizations that say they are concerned about the state budget and tax issues. Members of the coalition held a 'State of Our State' address in Rockford to discuss how the budget stalemate has weakened family services and programs for seniors, veterans, and those with disabilities.
Easter Seals director of communications, Kelly Anne Ohde says, "Right now we're trying to do the best that we can with the budget impasse. With that being said, we are always diversifying our funding as much as possible to be able to provide those services. But, of course, it’s increasingly getting harder every day the longer we have no budget in place. It is becoming more of a challenge for us.”
The group says Governor Bruce Rauner and the general assembly have failed to put a budget first. They hope Governor Rauner will address the budget issue during his State of the State address.
