One Year of Cameras in the Courtroom

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- It's been a year since we were first allowed to give you an inside look at some of our biggest court-cases, and now the program could be expanded state-wide.

Winnebago County is one only a few counties in the state allowed to bring cameras into the courtroom. Since then we've taken you into the proceedings for Katie Stockton, the woman accused of killing Baby Crystal and the Marie’s Pizza murder trial, just to name a few. Chief Judge Joseph McGraw says he's heard good feedback from judges and attorneys. Now a year in the courts are looking to expand the program.

"The supreme court is considering whether or not to expand the media coverage statewide, that's under consideration. Also we're considering whether or not to allow blogging as part of extended media coverage or whether to keep that a separate consideration,” said Judge McGraw.

Judge McGraw expects the state supreme court to decide by the end of the year whether to expand the program statewide.
