One Woman Robbed At Gunpoint in String of Overnight Robberies

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A woman was robbed of her purse during one of several armed robberies Wednesday night.

Police say around 7:30 pm on the 2400 block of West State Street, a woman was walking out of a church when four black men approached her. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and demanded her purse. All four suspects fled southbound down the alley.

Later, Police recovered the stolen purse. The suspects are described as 4 black males, ranging from 15-17 years of age and all were last seen wearing dark clothes.

The second robbery happened just 15 minutes later near the intersection of Day Street and West State Street. Two people were walking along Day Street when 3 black men approached them. One suspect pulled a gun and demanded cash. When the victim refused him, the suspect hit the victim over the head with the gun and picked out his pockets. The suspects fled northbound on Day Street.

The suspect descriptions are as follows:
One Suspect: black male is 5’ 8” tall, weighs 170 pounds, last seen wearing a black jacket.
Other two suspects: Around 15 years old, one had a red pull over shirt on, the other, last seen wearing a blue striped shirt.

Around 10 pm on the 3400 block of Harrison Avenue, police responded to a robbery call. When they arrived they learned that a pizza delivery man was walking up the sidewalk to deliver pizza. That’s when another man, wearing a black ski mask, robbed him at gun point.

In this incident police are looking for a suspect described as follows: black man, 5’ 7” tall who was last seen wearing a black ski mask and dark clothing.
