OGLE COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Illinois Supreme Court entered an order Thursday, November 8, 2012, appointing John Benjamin Roe IV as Resident Circuit Judge of Ogle County, 15th Judicial Circuit.
Roe was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Judge Michael T. Mallon who is retiring effecting December 4, 2012. Roe's appointment is effective January 7, 2013.
Roe was first elected Ogle County State's Attorney in 2004. As Ogle County State's Attorney, Roe has contributed to the development of an adult drug court, juvenile drug court (set to open in 2013), a domestic violence response protocol and juvenile justice diversion and detention alternative programming.
Prior to being elected state's attorney, Roe was an assistant state's attorney in Carroll County. He was also a Juvenile Probation officer at Focus House and worked at the Ogle County Sheriff's Department.
Roe was the recipient of the 2012 Northern Illinois University Alumni Association Most Outstanding Alumni for the College of Law.
He received a juris doctorate from Northern Illinois University College of Law and a bachelor's degree in government from Centre College.
"I am looking forward to serving the people of Ogle County as Circuit Judge. I recognize the responsibilities of a Circuit Judge and I will fulfill them to teh best of my ability," said Roe.
