LEE; OGLE; WHITESIDE COUNTIES (WIFR) -- Lee County Sheriff John Varga, Ogle County Sheriff Michael Harn, and Whiteside County Sheriff Kelly Wilhelmi announced today that the NO WAKE ordinances are in effect for the Rock River in Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside Counties.

The Rock River is set to be at flood stage Friday morning and continue to rise throughout the day, the Sheriffs want to encourage everyone to use caution in and around the Rock River.

The conditions of floating debris and swift currents have created conditions that are significantly hazardous to boaters. The conditions also make it treacherous for rescue personnel who are called upon to respond to boating/water related emergencies. The Sheriff's Departments will be in contact with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources ant eh National Weather Service for updates on river conditions and will evaluate those conditions on a daily basis.
