New Trees Planted in Highland Park After Emerald Ash Borer Removal

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The City of Rockford plans to remove thousands of ash trees over the next five years because of the Emerald Ash Borer crisis, but today a new program got underway to make sure the Forest City lives up to its name.

The City of Rockford Forestry Department planted 17 new tress in Highland Park Neighborhood recently they had to remove 19 ash trees from the park. This fall the city will plant nearly 200 trees.
