ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A treatment center that first opened in the 1960's at Rockford Memorial Hospital gets a new high tech facelift.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held this morning for the newly remodeled Step-Down Intensive Care Unit. The facility specializes in treating patients whose medical condition are not severe enough for the intensive care unit, but still too complex for the general hospital floor.
The 20 bed facility has one central nurse's station designed to improve the quality of care.
