New Seats for BMO Center

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The Icehogs hope the Hawks’ Stanley Cup win will help pack the BMO, and when their season starts in October, fans will be greeted by much nicer seating.

The seats are fans’ biggest complaint about the BMO. They’re 30 years old. These new ones have cup holders and the arm rests are retractable. They’re also designed to help make better use of staff members’ time. Seating sections in the lower bowl area can go in or out with the push of a button. Right now, it takes employees hours to do it by hand.

"What we're doing is very focused on operational efficiency, because at the end of the day that's what really justifies the cost of what we're putting into it, but the customer experience, and the fan experience is so important to what we do,” said BMO Center General Manager, Gordon Kaye.

The lower Bowl will now be able to seat an additional 300 people. The project starts in August and is scheduled to be done by the fall. It’ll cost nearly 1.5 million dollars. It’s funded by a state grant.
