ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The City of Rockford's newest firefighters were put to the test.
The new recruits were able to get hands on training on how to work sprinkler systems. Another focus at the fire training academy was survival training for firefighters when it comes to flash overs, that's when a fire gets out of control and is a leading cause of firefighter deaths and injuries.
