ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Around 10:00 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, a deer somehow managed to get out onto the thin ice of the Kishwaukee River in Atwood Park and got stuck.
It took first responders of the New Milford Fire Protection District an hour and a half to get the deer to safety.
We’re told the deer rested for a few minutes before scurrying off into the woods.
