SPRINGFIELD (WIFR) -- Our local fire departments won't have to worry as much when it comes to buying new equipment.
Fire departments can get zero percent or low interest loans for up to $350,000. That’s a $100,000 raise in the maximum amount for the loan.
The state fire marshal says the change was needed since fire trucks are more expensive than they were 10 years ago when the original cap was put in place.
In that time more than $25 million has been loaned to fire departments around the state.
