New Aerospace Company Moves to Rockford Airport

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A new move could mean more aerospace jobs in the Rockford area. Code 1 Aviation is an aircraft company that restores vintage airplanes, and it's moved to the Rockford airport. Code 1 Aviation fixes things such as radios and engines for a variety of aircrafts, including propeller planes. Technicians perform routine maintenance for more than 20 companies, which also includes a few international clients. President Nathan Jones says most of his staff live in the area, which made Rockford an easy choice for expansion.

"The close vicinity again, where a lot of the guys live, it was a bit of a drive for us to go to DeKalb but, the Rockford Airport has a lot to offer. There’s some other supporting businesses that we do business with and being close to them is beneficial to what we're trying to do here,” Jones said.

Only 10 employees work here in Rockford. The company plans to hire more metal specialists and system technicians by the end of the year.
