Neighbors Say Local Pride Can Help Transform Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford neighbors come up with their own ideas on how to give the city a makeover during a Transform Rockford meeting Sunday afternoon.

The Miracle Mile Neighborhood and Business Association helped organize a visioning session Sunday at First Evangelical Covenant Church. Business owners and neighbors came together to discuss their ideas for change in our region. Neighbors want to see better marketing of the regions arts and cultural assets, plus they believe more people need to take pride and ownership in the region. They also want to see local schools, from pre-school to college, better prepare students for the workplace.

"Well I don't think anybody has all the answers. Just because I like something doesn't mean somebody else doesn't and as we sat in the group and talked about it, it's amazing how much we had in common and, 'Oh, I liked what you said and I like that' and we put it together to come up with some good ideas," says Dave Conroy.

Several other meetings are planned for February and March. For other future meetings: http://transformrockford.org/calendar/?ai1ec_page_offset
