NIU President Visits Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Northern Illinois University's new president made a stop in the Stateline today to chat with business leaders about some of the ways their organizations can work together.

Doug Baker will officially take the reins on July first.

To make sure he's ready to lead, he's stopping at all of NIU's satellite branches.

Baker tells us he sees a lot of opportunity in Rockford because there's such an extensive alumni network. He hopes to use those connections to help his students get more real-world experience.
