ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The family of Rockford's latest murder victim is asking his friends to leave revenge out of the grieving process.

Innette Zackery says she's tired of all the violence in Rockford, violence her 18 year old son Shaquille Zackery fell victim to last weekend. Her family held a vigil attended by nearly a hundred people Saturday night near where the young man was shot. Innette says retaliation for her son's death would only tarnish Shaq's good memory.

"Enough is enough," said Zackery. "Let God handle this. Everybody wants to do revenge [but] that's not going to work; that's not going to bring my son back. Someone else will end up in jail or another mother will be doing the same thing I'm doing and I don't want that. I do want justice for my son, but I want it done right. That's what I'm telling these young folks. Don't do this revenge. I don't want to hear no more talk about revenge."

Shaq Zackery's funeral is this Thursday.
