Organizers with the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge hope to raise five thousand dollars tonight to create a commemorative plaque for the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting.
Once it's made, the organization will give the memorial to Sandy Hook elementary. The piece will be engraved will all the names of the victims who lost their lives in the December shooting.
"I wanted to do a memorial plaque in remembrance of the children and the teachers," said event organizer Chris Corcoran. "I thought that'd be more significant than all the personal teddy bears and so on forth. I wanted this to mean something and people try to get a better understanding of what happened."
Organizers say if they don't hit the five thousand dollar goal tonight, several businesses have offered to fill the gap.
