MT. MORRIS (WIFR) -- Mount Morris' parade Friday afternoon isn't only honoring the national holiday but also the town's oldest citizens.
Eight Mount Morris residents who are around 100 years old rode as grand marshals in the parade. Some of them are in Pinecrest Community. The route wound from Brayton Road through part of the small downtown area. Over 100 floats participated.
"I was happy to see all the children," said Betty Solyom, 101-year-old Mount Morris resident. "I didn't realize there were so many children in Mount Morris. And I think everybody in town turned out."
The parade in Mount Morris went on for about an hour.
