BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) -- It's not the usual crowd you hear about at food pantries. Now more working class families are skipping a trip to the grocery store for their local food pantry.
Workers at the Belvidere-Boone County Food Pantry say they've seen more residents with jobs coming in. They may be able to pay their bills, but can't afford to put food on the table. The number of working class families jumped ten percent in the last year.
Since last summer more than six thousand adults visited the Belvidere-Boone County Food Pantry. Only three percent of them were on food stamps.
