GREEN COUNTY (WIFR) -- Deputies in Green County responded to the scene of a two car accident around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

The accident occurred at the intersection of East Lake Ave and North Main Street in Monticello. Micah Mewis, 23, of Mineral Point was traveling eastbound when he lost control of his car, crossed the center line, collided with a stop sign and came to a rest after smashing into a parked car.

The car that was hit belongs to Derek Luchsinger, 23, of Monticello. Mewis was transported to the nearest hospital for injuries sustained in the crash and was cited for his 2nd OWI offense.

He will also be charged with not wearing a seat belt, failure to maintain a vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Luchsinger car sustained minor damages while Mewis car had to be towed from the scene.
