Mobil Gas Robbed 20 Minutes After Attempted Robbery of Walgreens

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Rockford Police are looking for a man who robbed a Mobil gas station early Thursday morning. It happened on the 2600 block of Broadway around three.

Police say the same man had attempted to rob the Walgreens on Charles Street just 20 minutes earlier. When the suspect walked into Walgreens, he approached the counter and demanded money but the manager ran to the back of the store to call police. The man fled before police arrived.

Then, at the Mobil gas station, the suspect walked right up to the counter, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded cash. The clerk hit the panic button and gave the man the money.

The suspect was last seen wearing a green sweatshirt with white lettering on it and a black mask over his face. The suspect also had on faded carpenter jeans, grey tennis shoes that had white trim and laces, and a gray shirt was seen sticking out underneath the sweatshirt.
