CHICAGO (WIFR) – A Minnesota Mayor is trying to capitalize on Illinois’ inaction.
R.T. Ryback, the Mayor of Minneapolis is on a multi-state tour of the Midwest encouraging gay and lesbian couples to get married in his state.
Minnesota just recently legalized same sex marriage. Rybak says the wedding tourism could pump hundreds of thousands of dollars into Minneapolis’ economy and Illinois is missing out.
Illinois’ gay marriage legislation remains in limbo, but it may come up again during the fall veto session. The legislation stalled in the house this spring because it did not have enough support.
