Mill Foundation Hands Out $62,000 in Grants to Local Non-Profits

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Six area non-profits will now be able to help more local kids in need.

The Mill Foundation handed out more than $62,000 in grants on Wednesday to local non-profits dedicated to helping Rockford area youth

Here's where the money is going.

$12,500: Rockford Reachout Jail Ministry

$10,000: Rockford Meld
Northwest Community Center
Northern Illinois Food Bank
Remedies Renewing Lives
Family Counseling Services

The Mill Foundation Chairman Lori Diaz says right now non-profits really need the help.

"As we all know not-for-profits are really struggling with cut backs from the state of Illinois and other funding sources. So they look to private organizations and foundations to fill that gap," Diaz.

Since 2008, The Mill Foundation has awarded more than $575,000 in grants to nearly 50 area non-profits.
