ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Midway Village Museum has been awarded a grant of $45,331 by the Dr. Louis & Violet Rubin Fund of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois. The purpose of the grant is for a three-year programming plan for the newly completed Many Faces, One Community exhibit.
Midway Village Museum’s goal with the Many Faces, One Community exhibit is to generate on-going interest and a deeper understanding of the Rockford community and its diversity. Illinois museums continue to rank among the top three family vacation destinations each year. The Illinois Association of Museums also notes that cultural and heritage activities account for over 23% of all domestic trips recorded by tour and travel industry professionals.
“The grant from the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois will give us the additional resources to plan programming in the newly completed Many Faces, One Community exhibit,” said Deb Nau, Director of Development for the museum. “Our agency has developed many ongoing community collaborations in the last several years who will be featured in the Many Faces, One Community exhibit.”
The Community Foundation of Northern Illinois will present a check to Midway Village Museum at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, at the museum located at 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford.
Midway Village Museum is positioned to make a greater impact on the economic climate of the community and generate a deeper tolerance among diverse groups who call Rockford home with the Many Faces, One Community exhibit.
Midway Village Museum will be the primary institution where Rockford’s diverse citizens gather to understand their community’s past and to discuss the challenges of the future. Midway Village Museum is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year. The Community Foundation of Northern Illinois is the area’s largest provider of grants and scholarships. Its mission is to attract, grow, and preserve an endowment for the needs of the people of Northern Illinois.
