ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A product in a lot of our makeup bags will soon be illegal in Illinois.
Governor Pat Quinn signed a law banning products containing so-called micro beads. The synthetic plastic micro beads are found in soaps and cosmetics that help exfoliate our skin.
Experts say the beads pollute our waterways, so by the end of 2019 we won't be able to find micro beads on store shelves in Illinois.
We are the first state in the country to ban the product.
