JO DAVIESS COUNTY (WIFR) -- Years of fighting a proposed mega-dairy have paid off for families against the project. The landowner has agreed to abandon plans to build the 5,000 cattle farm.
The Illinois Attorney General’s office and AJ Bos of California agreed to a preliminary settlement late last week. The dairy farm had been under construction since 2008, but faced several roadblocks, due to contamination concerns. Actually, the attorney general got involved in 2010 when discharge from the farm, turned a tributary of the apple river purple. The agreement won't be finalized for a few weeks.
