ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The United Tax Payers President of Chicago will be in Rockford to talk about Illinois issues on taxes and pensions.

The group Concerned Citizens of Rockford is holding the meeting and the organizations’ leader James Novak says people need to be aware of what the legislature is doing to try and solve the $45 billion sinkhole.

“Our taxes in Winnebago County and the city of Rockford are totally out of control. In the state of Illinois, they’re out of control. We need to step up to the plate. My favorite saying is do the math. If you do the math you’ll see the spending that we’re being taxed for is totally out of control and outrageous.”

That event is starting in just a little bit. It’ll be at 6 p.m. tonight at Provena Cor Mariae in Rockford.
