Mayor Morrissey Attends White House Maker Faire

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A rising number of homemakers and entrepreneurs in Rockford have caught the attention of the Obama administration.

Mayor Morrissey (can be seen in the second row) is at the White House or the first Maker Faire. Morrissey is one of 20 mayors nationwide from manufacturing communities. The maker movement is picking up steam focusing on new approaches in fields like local food production and digital arts. He is also meeting with some senior white house officials on supporting makers specifically in manufacturing cities.
