ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Dozens of needy families in the Rockford area will have a place to lay their heads before waking up on Christmas morning.
Slumberland Furniture is donating almost 40 mattresses and Box Spring sets to the Salvation Army.
The program has been going on since 1993, which means on average they've given away just under 2,000 mattresses for low-income families.
"Well here we are able to provide them with a bed that they might not be able to get. These kids, I'm telling you, they enjoy it, for sure. Some are sleeping on the floor, we know that. And if they can sleep on a bed for Christmas, it's a good deal," said Wade Kemmet, Slumberland Furniture General Manager.
