MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Madison Fire Department says a massive fire at a building that had been under constriction has been mostly contained.
Madison Fire Department spokeswoman Lori Wirth tells the Wisconsin State Journal that when firefighters arrived Friday night, the top two stories of the building were engulfed in flames. She says the fire was so hot that it melted vinyl siding from four unoccupied homes across the street.
The Wisconsin State Patrol urged motorists to use caution in the area, as heavy smoke may affect visibility on Interstate 39.
