ROCKFORD (WIFR) — On May 30 Rockford City Market kicks off its fifth season with over 65 vendors, many new to the market. The market will once again expand its grounds to accommodate the continued growth of vendors and attendance.
In 2013, Rockford City Market grounds were expanded north on Water Street, when over 75,000 patrons visited. The grounds have once again been expanded further north on Water Street to the Jefferson Street Bridge.
The market welcomes back vendors from last year such as AnJan’s Eats, Bella Luna Bakery, and Wood Fire Brick Oven Pizza. New vendors include Popcorn Parlor, Joey C’s Pasta, and Woodford Street Baking Company among others. Additionally, Rockford Brewing Company and Pig Minds Brewing Company have partnered to provide locally brewed craft beer, filling the vacancy left by Carlyle’s departure. LaMonica Beverages will also have an additional booth on Water Street this year.
“We’re thankful for the relationship we have had with Carlyle over the past four years. Carlyle Brewing Company has been an asset to the Rockford City Market since its inception and we remain grateful for their participation,” stated Peter Provenzano, Chairman of Rock River Development Partnership. "We look forward to growing our relationship with Pig Minds, Rockford Brewing and LaMonica to complement the Market and continue to provide a craft brew experience for patrons."
In addition to new and returning vendors, Rockford Health System (RHS) is again proud to be the presenting sponsor for the Rockford City Market. RHS’s booth at Market and Water Streets will spotlight different departments each week including interactive activities. The opening week of the market will feature Plastic Surgeon Liza Kim, M.D., and her colleagues from the Plastic Surgery Department discussing the latest in cosmetic surgery and skin enhancements. Podiatrist Nathan Norem, D.P.M., and staff from the Podiatry Department will share tips for healthy feet and provide the latest information about innovations in podiatric surgery.
Each week the market will feature different live music performances, weekly market promotions and showcase activities and demonstrations for children.
