FREEPORT (WIFR) -- The pain of losing a job is one that many people in the Stateline have felt. But one area program is helping make things easier for job hunters.
The Accelerated Training for Illinois Manufacturing Program held an informational session in Freeport Thursday for people who have been out of a job.
The program assists people in finding jobs,as well as, free training in the manufacturing industry.
Including machine operation, welding, and assembly. Jesse Thomas has had trouble finding a job and she says the program can be helpful.
"It's like a dream come true, I was talking to a guy about getting the daily bread. Then I talked to the guy who was handing out the things to come down here today. I just got all excited I just started taking people to him because I really need a job."
In addition to Stephenson County the program also serves residents in Winnebago, Boone and DeKalb Counties. About 70% of people who apply for the program receive assistance.
