UPDATE: 2 Men in Custody for Man Shot in Head in Loves Park


UPDATE: Two men are now in custody for the shooting of a man in Loves Park.

A short time after the shooting, Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputies located a vehicle in connection with the shooting at a home in the 1500 block of Jennie Dr. in Machesney Park.

53 year old Bruce Jackson,of Spartanburg, South Carolina was arrested and charged with attempted murder & aggravated battery with a firearm.

31 year old Jesse Owens of Loves Park was also arrested. Owens was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon & for having no firearm owners identification card.


LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- A man is fighting for his life after Loves Park Police say he was shot in the head in broad daylight.

This all happened around 3pm Sunday in the 2000 block of Evans Avenue just off Alpine between Windsor and Harlem roads.

Detectives say they found the man lying in the street. Witnesses tell 23 News the victim was fighting with someone when he was shot.

Officers say they are still in the process of interviewing witnesses. No one has been arrested.
