OGLE COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Ogle County State's Attorney, has announced that on March 4, 2013 Charles Chamness was sentenced to 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class 1 Felony.
This sentence will run consecutive to a 30 year Department of Corrections sentence the Defendant received after he was found guilty of two Counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and one Count of Armed Violence by an Ogle County Jury on February 9, 2012. The Defendant will be eligible for parole in January of 2040.
State’s Attorney Rock who personally handled the jury trial in this matter states, "I am pleased to announce to the citizens of Ogle County that our office has taken this violent felon off our streets for a significant amount of time."
