BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Boone County State's Attorney has announced that 44-year-old Sergio Dean of Rockford, Illinois, was sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for one count of Armed Robbery.

On May 14, 2010, Dean, while armed with a pellet gun, entered the “CASH STORE” in Belvidere, wearing a mask, and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk gave the money from the drawer and safe. Dean then ordered the clerk, who was 7 months pregnant at the time, to wait in the bathroom while he made his escape. A Good Samaritan saw Dean leaving the business and was able to get the plate number of the car in which Dean drove away. The car was registered to Dean. Minutes after the robbery, Rockford Police located Dean’s car and searched the home in which Dean was found hiding under a pile of clothes, along with the exact amount of money stolen, two homemade masks, latex gloves, and a pellet gun.
