WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- A Rockford man pleads guilty to murder, even though he did not actually kill his accomplice.
28-year-old Maurecus Adams was sentenced to 20 years for the murder of Troy Perkins. In January of last year, Rockford Police say Adams and Perkins broke into a home on 12th Avenue. Perkins pulled a gun on the man who lived there and the two struggled over the gun while the woman got a gun from the kitchen and shot and killed Perkins.
Adams was charged with First Degree Murder because the death occurred during a crime he was a part of. The woman was not charged.
