Man Sentenced After Pleading Guilty to Aggravated Battery Charge

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Winnebago County State's Attorney announced that 43-year-old Edward Stevenson pled guilty and was sentenced on March 11, 2013 to six (6) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Judge Rosemary Collins for the offense of Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer.

On February 7th, 2012, officers responded to two 911 calls on Waveland Ave. in reference to a domestic trouble incident. Upon arrival, officers spoke with members of Edward Stevenson’s family. One of the officers started to talk to someone inside the residence and Stevenson turned around and raised his hand and punched the officer in the face. Stevenson then struggled and fought with officers until both of his hands were handcuffed.

Aggravated Battery to Peace Officer is a Class 2 Felony and punishable by 3-7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
