UPDATE: Orangeville Man Killed in Snowmobile Accident

UPDATE: We now know the name of the man killed in a recent snowmobile accident. He's Chad Cahoon, 41, of Orangeville.

The Stephenson County coroner says Cahoon died of massive head trauma. We're told he crashed his snowmobile into a tree Sunday night about a half mile south of Route 26 along the Jane Adams Trail. I
t's unknown if alcohol was involved, blood test results are expected in two weeks.

ORANGEVILLE (WIFR) -- Around 9:45 p.m. on December 23, 2012, the Illinois Conservation Police were contacted by the Stephenson County Sheriffs Office after they received a 911 call of a snowmobile accident approximately ½ mile south of Route 26 along the Jane Adams Trail near Orangeville Illinois.

A 41-year-old Orangeville man was driving north on a snowmobile when he left the trail and struck a tree. The man was transported to Freeport Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the Stephenson County Coroner.

This matter remains under investigation by the Stephenson County Coroner and Illinois Conservation Police.

The man's name is not being released at this time, pending family notifications.
