An early morning traffic stop turned into an arrest of one man following a police chase in northern Rock County and ending on the northside of Janesville.
The Rock Copunty Sheriff's Department reports at about 3:20 a.m., an Edgerton Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle being operated without its headlights on.
The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. Police pursued the vehicle south on Hwy 51 out of Edgerton.
The pursuit south on Hwy 51 at speeds up to 70 mph. Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office were requested to help. Two sets of stops sticks were deployed. The vehicle hit the stop sticks which deflated 3 tires. The vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of N Hwy 51 and Hwy14. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.
The driver, Christopher J. Barrett, 22yrs of age, of Edgerton was arrested for Operating While Under the Influence (1st), Prohibited Alcohol Concentration, and Knowingly Fleeing an Officer.
Barrett is in custody at the Rock County Jail pending an initial court appearance on 11/23/12 at 1:00 p.m.
